I like to understand how a system works, make it run better, and then train the people who run it — building the checklists that keep the work compliant.

A charity that funds a hospital overseas needed to stop depending on what it could raise via donations and become self-funding. The answer I designed is a group structure — a charity, a holding company beneath it, and trading companies beneath that — built on the Charity Commission’s guidance on how charities may trade. That structure has been provided to the trustees in easily digestible documents alongside versions suitable for their legal and tax advisers. I also provided a report on the main risks to success so that these can be addressed before they become an issue.
